The Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provide the opportunity to give a status to groups already active in the society and or members of ESRAD for networking, collaboration, developing initiatives and research and exchanging evidence-based knowledge and tools. A board member will be allocated to oversee the SIGs.

SIG activity
Members meet periodically, at least twice every year.
Activities may include:
At the end of the three-year period, the board will receive a report on the activities to help decide on the renewal of the SIG.

The organization of a SIG
- Each SIG will consist of at least five members, including a chairperson and at least four other ESRAD members, who agree to a set of common objectives that are consistent with the aims of the Society. Additional members are proposed by the Chairperson and in case they are not members, they are invited to join ESRAD.
- The chairperson coordinates the activities within the SIG, takes care of the communication among SIG members, sharing and updating information on the activities performed.
- Board approval of a SIG is renewed every 3 years.
Starting a SIG
- On behalf of the group, a representative member of the proposed SIG (potential Chairperson) makes a request of approval to the board describing the aims, the activities carried out and planned.
- The board will provide approval based on the remit of the SIG fitting with ESRAD’s aims and scope, and evidence of planned activities, namely:
- a program of initiatives or a research project planned in the incoming three-year period.
- the organization of a symposium, a common research activity, papers or books involving at least 3 members of the group
SIG activity

- the organisation of symposia in the ESRAD conference, webinars or workshops.
- the development of international projects.
