We are excited to announce that ESRAD is offering three grants of up to 1000 Euros to members to support their research.
Funding is available for research that meets ESRAD’s aim of promoting research on expanded capabilities, transitions, and positive change in adulthood. Example research topics include, but are not limited to, wisdom, cognitive development, social-emotional development, moral development, development through therapy or intervention, adult education, political development, leadership, relationship development, or any topic that informs an understanding of adulthood transformation.
Criteria for applications
1. Applicants must be members of ESRAD, see https://www.europeadultdevelopment.org/membership.html . There is no charge for membership currently.
2. Awards are available for researchers from universities and from non-academic organisations.
3. Applications may be made to support empirical or theoretical research. Empirical research must have received documented approval from a recognised IRB or ethics committee.
4. Funding can be used variously to support existing research; pending funding for a mid-size or large project; or as the sole source of funding for a small-scale project.
5. Funding may be used to cover the following expenses; (a) staffing costs, (b) travel costs, and (c) directly incurred costs such as payments to research participants or equipment.
6. Awards will be made based on merit as assessed by ESRAD’s awards committee.
Process of Application
- Applicants must complete the Small Grants Initiative application form and submit it together with a full CV (for each person involved) and a support letter from their employing organisation.
- Forms must be saved in .pdf format and submitted by email to [email protected] with the subject line Application for Small Grants Scheme
- The deadline for submissions is March 31st, 2024. Decisions will be communicated to applicants by April 30th, 2024.
The Grant: payment, timing and outputs
- Funds will be paid in full up front.
- The maximum time allowed for the project from the award date to completion is 18 months.
- Applicants who are successful in gaining a grant will be required to submit a report on progress after 6 months and to present their research at the ESRAD Conference 2025 via an online or in-person presentation. The conference will be held in the spring or summer of 2025.
